The salary range for this position is expected to be between $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year, depending on geographic location, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

About the Role:
Eastridge Workforce Solutions is partnering with a well-established environmental testing laboratory to identify an experienced Sample Control Manager. This individual will oversee the receipt, logging, storage, tracking, and distribution of environmental samples while ensuring strict chain-of-custody compliance and adherence to regulatory and quality standards. Working closely with laboratory operations, field teams, and QA/QC personnel, this role plays a critical part in maintaining sample integrity and supporting timely laboratory operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the receipt, verification, logging, storage, and tracking of environmental samples, ensuring complete and accurate chain-of-custody documentation.
- Manage sample workflow by assigning incoming samples to the appropriate analytical departments and monitoring turnaround times to meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with EPA, TNI, ISO 17025, and project-specific quality standards while maintaining audit-ready documentation and sample handling procedures.
- Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to sample receiving, storage, preservation, and disposal.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate Sample Control Technicians while promoting a culture of quality, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to sample volume, backlog, workflow performance, and compliance metrics.
- Partner with QA/QC, laboratory management, and project teams to resolve sample discrepancies, nonconformances, and workflow issues.
- Maintain inventory levels for sample storage supplies, preservation materials, and other critical laboratory resources.
Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in laboratory sample management, sample control, or environmental testing.
- Experience managing environmental samples including water, soil, hazardous waste, or similar sample matrices.
- Strong understanding of chain-of-custody requirements and regulatory compliance within laboratory environments.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for sample tracking and documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising teams and coordinating high-volume laboratory workflows.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred, but not required.
Preferred:
- Experience working within EPA, TNI, or ISO 17025 accredited laboratories.
- Experience supporting QA/QC investigations, corrective actions, or nonconformance resolution.
- Knowledge of environmental laboratory operations and sample preservation requirements.
- Experience developing or implementing laboratory SOPs and workflow improvements.
