1. Overview
PSG is a fast‑growing construction and infrastructure firm specializing in mission‑critical environments. We are seeking a vigilant, proactive Safety Specialist to join our team on a high‑profile data center construction project in Lordstown, Ohio. This role is responsible for championing site‑wide safety programs, conducting inspections, delivering training, and ensuring full compliance with OSHA and company standards to protect all personnel and assets.
This role will initially support a 6‑month data center construction project based in Lordstown, with a strong pipeline of follow‑on projects nationwide. This is not a short‑term assignment — upon successful completion of the first project, you will transition directly to subsequent projects, offering long‑term career stability and growth. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on safety leader who thrives in a dynamic construction environment, balancing field presence with administrative duties to foster a strong safety‑first culture.
2. Duties
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the site‑specific Safety & Health Program, including emergency response plans, hazard communication, and fall protection procedures.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and job‑hazard analyses (JHAs); identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and collaborate with supervisors to implement immediate corrective actions.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and conduct formal safety orientation for all new hires, subcontractors, and visitors; coordinate ongoing safety training (e.g., fall protection, scaffold use, electrical safety, heavy equipment operation).
- Investigate all incidents, near‑misses, and injuries – complete thorough root‑cause analysis, document findings, and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate safety records (OSHA 300 logs, inspection reports, training records, permit documentation) and ensure all paperwork is up to date and audit‑ready.
- Enforce strict adherence to PPE requirements, safe work practices, and site rules; have authority to stop work when imminent danger exists.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, local authorities) during inspections and proactively address any compliance gaps.
- Coordinate with project management, superintendents, and subcontractor safety representatives to align safety expectations and share lessons learned.
- Monitor environmental conditions (heat stress, air quality, noise) and implement controls to protect worker health.
- Support emergency response drills and maintain first‑aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment on site.
- Promote a positive safety culture through recognition programs, safety committees, and open communication channels.
3. Must‑Haves as the Safety Specialist
- Minimum 4 years of progressive construction safety experience, with at least 2 years on industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects involving heavy civil, structural, and MEP activities.
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Outreach certification (or equivalent) – valid and current.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations, hazard recognition, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven ability to conduct effective safety training and toolbox talks for diverse crews, including subcontractor personnel.
- Strong investigative and documentation skills – able to write clear reports and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – comfortable interacting with craft workers, foremen, project managers, and external agencies.
- Physically fit to walk the job site, climb ladders/stairs, and work in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours – prepared to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as needed to support project milestones.
- English fluency (reading, writing, speaking) is essential for documentation, training, and regulatory correspondence.
4. Nice‑to‑Haves as the Safety Specialist
- Prior experience on hyperscale data center, semiconductor cleanroom, or other high‑tech construction projects with complex electrical and mechanical systems.
- OSHA 500 or 502 Trainer certification – ability to teach 10‑ and 30‑hour courses.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential.
- Experience with digital safety management platforms (e.g., Procore, SafetyNet, HCSS) for reporting and trend analysis.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling (silica, lead, asbestos) and industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Bilingual Mandarin Chinese skills are a plus for communicating with Mandarin‑speaking workers (though not required).

6. Experience
- Minimum 4 years of total construction safety experience.
- At least 2 years in a dedicated safety role on projects with 50+ workers and high‑risk activities (e.g., crane lifts, excavation, structural steel erection, electrical distribution).
- Demonstrated experience leading safety training, conducting inspections, and managing incident investigations.
- Familiarity with subcontractor safety management and pre‑qualification processes.
7. License/Certification
- Required: OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Outreach (or equivalent).
- Required: CPR/First Aid/AED (must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not currently held).
- Valid driver’s license (required for site mobility).
- Preferred: OSHA 500/502, CSP, CHST, or STS certification.
8. Ability to Relocate
- Must be able to relocate to Lordstown, OH or currently reside within a commutable distance.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to subsequent project sites nationwide upon completion of the Lordstown project (expenses covered by company).
9. Work Location
- Lordstown, Ohio – on‑site at the data center construction project.
- This is a 100% field‑based role; remote or hybrid work is not available. Daily presence on the construction site is required.

Pay: $53,784.77 - $64,773.05 per year
