MECHANIC
Classified Non-Exempt Position
Department: District Office Transportation
Reports to: Fleet Supervisor; Director of Transportation
Position Summary: Works in collaboration with the Fleet Supervisor, Director of Transportation and other departmental staff to ensure school buses and other District vehicles are maintained in safe operating condition.
Training and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five years mechanical experience in gasoline and diesel engines.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
- Commercial driver’s license (valid licensure must be maintained).
- Licensed in R-134a (valid licensure must be maintained).
- Applicants that do not possess a CDL must acquire within 6 months of hiring.
- ASE Certification (preferred)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly Position
Salary Range: $26.42 - $35.21 (Grade 17)
Salary Placement: Appropriate placement on the Classified Salary Schedule based on experience
