POSITION SUMMARY:
Construction Field Technicians travel to renewable energy project sites to perform Quality Assurance testing of construction materials. Upon accurate completion of the tests, the results are documented and communicated to client field representatives. Reports are then submitted for review and processing. With guidance from the Project Manager, the Traveling Field Technician will assist with deficiency resolution.
This role will require the ability to complete training at the MTC Grand Rapids, MI location, travel to site locations for 3 weeks to 6 months at a time, return to the MTC Grand Rapids, MI location to preform local work in between renewable energy projects.
A Construction Materials Travel Technician can expect additional compensation including: Overtime and Per Diem pay.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all necessary concrete and density testing
- Complete daily report of observation and accurately record test results
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
- Professional communication with client representatives (supervisor, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
- Recording and communication to the project supervisor and client any deviations from the specifications
- Proper maintenance of equipment
- Perform other duties or functions as assigned or requested
- Coordinate schedule with coworker and/or reliably monitor independent schedule
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High School degree required; Associates or Bachelor degree with a science focus helpful
- Ability to travel and stay overnight for nonlocal projects for weeks to months at a time, working locally in Grand Rapids, MI in between renewable projects
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to coordinate individual aspects of projects
- Effective communication skills and consistent contact with manager
- Comfortable working independently and efficiently
- Ability to comfortably work a physical job for 8-14 hours in a day, 5-7 days a week
- High ethical standards and ability to reliably self govern
- Regular lifting up to 50 lbs
- Work environment primarily at construction sites with the possibility of challenging terrain and outdoor weather conditions
- Pre-employment drug screen physical with 50lb lift test, background check with Motor Vehicle Report
