American Traveler seeks an experienced Surgical Technologist with strong trauma, neuro, and vascular experience for a Level II Trauma Center OR position in Montgomery, AL.

Work in a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with a Level III NICU
-
Assigned to the surgical services unit with 15 OR beds
-
Patient population is primarily adult with minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic
-
1:1 patient ratio
-
Specialties include trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho spine, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eye cases
-
Robotic surgery experience strongly preferred, particularly with Mazor and DaVinci XI systems
-
Open heart/CVOR capability is a plus but not required for general OR staff
-
Endovascular experience is preferred

Charting performed in Cerner
-
12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM start, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule (36 hrs/week)

No floating required

On-call is required for every service line except Open Heart: one day per week from 3 PM–7 AM and one weekend per month (Friday 3 PM–Monday 7 AM)

Holiday coverage is expected during the contract period

Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience required
-
Strong experience in trauma (no burns) and neuro is required; experience in general, vascular, ortho spine, ENT, GYN, urology, plastics, breast, and eye cases is expected

First-time travelers may be considered with at least 2 years of experience; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered

Surgical technologist certification preferred but not required

BLS certification required

AL state license required if applicable

SSN, DOB (day and month), copy of certifications, and one reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months required for consideration

Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during the orientation period

Unit support includes an ORA, desk assistant, some first assistants, a charge nurse, and team leaders for each service line
-
Green scrubs are required and will be provided

Parking is available in an on-site parking deck

Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
