American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a NICU position at a Level III NICU/Level IV Perinatal Center teaching hospital in Illinois, requiring at least 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Level III NICU within a 444-bed pediatric teaching hospital that is also a Level IV Perinatal Center
-
Primary home unit is the Nursing Float Pool, with floating required across PICU, PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics at both Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses

NICU patient population includes premature infants and neonates with neuro, GI, and feeder/grower diagnoses
-
Additional float unit patient populations include: PICU (intubated, post-surgical, respiratory failure, neuro), General Peds (neonates to age 18, hematology, oncology, post-surgery), ER (neonates to age 18), and PCICU (cardiac ICU, neonates to adult, including complex congenital heart diagnoses)

Patient ratios: 1:2 in the NICU, PICU, and PCICU; 1:3-4 in General Peds and ER

Required skills include trach management, mechanical ventilators, chest tubes, Foley catheters, surgical drains, arterial lines, CVLs, blood draws, IV starts, traction, CPAP, high flow, oscillator, central lines, dressing changes, heliox, and nitric respiratory support

Drip management required: Fentanyl, Propofol, Precedex, Epinephrine, and Levophed

EMR: Epic (experience required)

IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitoring: Med Sonic

Schedule: 3x12-hour day shifts per week, 0700–1930
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call responsibilities

6-week scheduling cycle

Active Illinois RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS, PALS, and NRP
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in a NICU or relevant pediatric specialty unit

Most recent experience must be within the last year

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency with advanced NICU/PICU skills including vents, arterial lines, CVLs, CPAP, oscillator, and vasoactive drips
-
One professional reference required, dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidate must provide middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration

Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse per department, an IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy 24/7, hospitalists 24/7, and intensivists 24/7

Orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation in PICU/PCICU

Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays

RTO requests must be approved by the manager
