Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, and verifying supplies to ensure availability for patient care.
- Assist with medication intake processes, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring proper documentation using medical terminology.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication instructions and answering basic questions related to medication administration.
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and aseptic techniques during medication preparation and handling.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate timely medication delivery for critical care and acute care patients.
- Ensure all pharmacy records are accurately maintained, including logs for medication dispensing, inventory management, and incident reports.
Requirements
- Prior pharmacy technician experience, preferably within LTC or hospital settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of hospital or acute care pharmacy operations and workflows.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care and safety.
- Critical care experience or familiarity with intensive treatment environments is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
