Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in pharmacy operations, with specialized experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care, and hospital settings. As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting pharmacists by preparing medications, managing patient intake, and ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Your expertise in medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and medication administration will contribute to delivering exceptional patient care and service.
Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and pharmacy protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Assist pharmacists with medication management, including inventory control, medication reconciliation, and documentation.
- Support patient care by providing medication information, answering questions related to drug interactions, and ensuring proper medication intake procedures.
- Manage medication orders for LTC facilities and hospital units, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate medication administration and optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for all medication transactions while adhering to privacy laws and safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training related to medical terminology, acute care procedures, and hospital pharmacy practices to maintain certification standards.
- Bilingual Spanish speaker prefered.
Skills
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician within LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and pharmacy software systems.
- Critical care experience is highly desirable for managing complex medication regimens in acute settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care, education, and support during medication processes.
- Ability to efficiently manage intake processes while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
