Operations Manager — Exterior Cleaning, Concrete & Holiday Lighting
My Guy Services · Indianapolis, IN · Full-time, on-site
$72,000/year base + up to $10,000/year in performance bonuses
This is not a desk job. Read the whole thing before you apply.
My Guy Services has been in Indianapolis since 2012. We do exterior cleaning, concrete sealing, commercial and residential holiday lighting, and snow and ice management. We light the Indianapolis Zoo, Downtown Indy, Downtown Franklin, St. Elmo's and Harry & Izzy's. We run about 1,500 jobs a year. We're a real company with real contracts, and we're about to grow faster than we've ever grown.
We're missing one person: the operator who runs it.
What you'll own
- The schedule. Crews, routes, and capacity — daily and a week out.
- The field. You're on job sites, not watching from the office. When a crew is short, you're on the roof.
- The operating system. Job costing, labor-against-budget tracking, daily reports, and holding people to them.
- The crews. Hiring, training, standards, and the uncomfortable conversations.
- The numbers. Every job has a labor budget. You own whether we hit it.
What a week actually looks like
Monday you build the week. Tuesday through Friday you're moving between job sites, solving problems, and running the crews. In October and November you're installing Christmas lights until the job is done — that means nights, that means cold, that means being the last truck to leave. In January you're watching the radar at 4am deciding whether we're salting. In spring you're running wash and concrete crews.
Some weeks are 45 hours. During holiday season they are not.
Who this is for
You've run crews before and they respected you — because you could do the work better than they could, not because of your title. You're comfortable on a roof and comfortable in a spreadsheet, and you don't think either one is beneath you. You'd rather be measured than managed. You've been the person who stayed until it was finished.
Who this is not for
If you want predictable hours in the fourth quarter, this isn't it. If you want to manage from a desk, this isn't it. If "that's not my job" is in your vocabulary, we'll both be miserable. We'd rather you figure that out now than in November.
