Position Summary
The Product Engineer plays a critical role in bridging design innovation and manufacturing execution. This position supports new product development (NPD) and introduction (NPI) by defining specifications, coordinating design validation, and ensuring seamless transition to mass production. Working cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, the Product Engineer drives continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to end-of-life.
The ideal candidate combines technical design insight, analytical problem-solving, and project management expertise to deliver optimized, reliable, and cost-effective products that meet customer and business expectations.
-
Drive the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from prototype to mass production, ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, and performance consistency.
-
Define, maintain, and update product specifications, documentation, and engineering standards in alignment with design and production requirements.
-
Partner with R&D to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles are integrated early in the design stage.
-
Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle, including upgrades, cost reduction initiatives, and end-of-life planning.
-
Lead or support product validation testing, including reliability, functionality, and environmental stress tests.
-
Analyze test data and generate engineering reports summarizing design performance, failure modes, and improvement actions.
-
Drive root cause analysis and coordinate cross-functional corrective actions for production or field issues.
-
Collaborate with Quality teams to maintain product quality, reliability metrics, and compliance with internal and industry standards.
-
Serve as a technical liaison between R&D, Manufacturing, QA, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth production transition and stable yield performance.
-
Facilitate technical reviews, design transfers, and product readiness meetings to align project milestones.
-
Support supplier development and component qualification in cooperation with procurement and vendor engineering teams.
-
Manage product engineering schedules, deliverables, and design documentation using structured project management tools.
-
Utilize data-driven methods to analyze yields, defects, and process efficiency, providing insights for improvement.
-
Coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and track their implementation through product revision control.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
-
3–5 years of experience in product or manufacturing engineering, ideally within electronics or high-volume assembly.
-
Proven background in new product development, NPI, and product validation.
-
Experience with failure analysis, root cause methodology, and continuous improvement tools (FMEA, 8D, 5-Whys).
-
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
-
Proficiency with CAD software, ERP/MES systems, and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Minitab).
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional coordination.
-
TOEIC score of 550 or higher, or equivalent English proficiency.
-
Willingness to work overseas for training, vendor support, or new program launches.
