Our fast-paced family law firm is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and paralegals in delivering exceptional client service. The ideal candidate communicates well, is comfortable in a Mac environment, and thrives in a dynamic setting. Legal or office experience is ideal — we welcome candidates from client-facing backgrounds seeking a meaningful, long-term role in the legal field. Kennebunk or Brunswick location.
Compensation:
$20 - $23 hourly commensurate with experience
Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys and paralegals by managing daily schedules and opening and closing new case files.
Prepare and organize legal documents, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information to support case progress.
Manage electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and up-to-date.
Coordinate with court personnel and other legal professionals to facilitate smooth case proceedings.
Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication with all parties involved in a case.
Qualifications:
A college degree is preferred, but significant relevant work experience will also be considered
1-2 years of experience in a law firm or professional office setting, handling administrative tasks such as scheduling, correspondence, and CRM software
Familiarity with legal software, case management, or docketing programs is a plus
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and quick turnaround times
Proficient in Mac OS, Apple Mail, and Google Suite
Strong team player
Excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills
