Palekana Aquatics Academy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is hiring part-time Water Safety Instructors for our Fall Session, August 18–October 22.
Schedule: Tuesdays 8:00am – 11:00am and Thursdays 9:45am – 2:00pm.
Pay: Starting at $23/hour, based on experience.
Location: Palama Settlement Aquatic Facility, 810 N Vineyard Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96817.
We provide water safety education to elementary school students during the school day. As a Water Safety Instructor, you'll teach swimming and aquatic safety skills in the water, monitor the instructional area, support fellow instructors from the deck and in the water, and help create a safe, positive learning environment for students.
What we're looking for:
- Comfortable working with children and comfortable in the water
- Watersports background: swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, etc…
- Experience teaching swim lessons or water safety
- Experience teaching in a classroom, afterschool program (Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, etc.), or other group setting
- Lifeguard experience
- Teaching credentials, WSI certification, or Lifeguard certification are preferred, but not required
Training provided: We train all instructors on our water safety curriculum, and offer a lifeguard certification course for staff who aren't yet certified.
