Job Summary
Kennedy's Grading & Excavation is seeking a motivated and dependable Pipe Layer / Laborer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will assist with the installation of underground utility systems, including storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water lines, while supporting grading and excavation operations on commercial and industrial construction projects.
This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Install storm drain, sanitary sewer, water, and underground utility piping.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and utility plans.
- Assist excavator operators with trenching and pipe installation.
- Check pipe alignment, grade, and elevations.
- Set structures including manholes, catch basins, and junction boxes.
- Perform trench safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Operate hand tools, compactors, lasers, and small equipment.
- Assist with site cleanup, material handling, and general labor duties.
- Follow company safety policies and project requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a crew to meet project schedules.
QualificationsPreferred Experience
- 1-3+ years of pipe laying, utility construction, grading, or excavation experience.
- Experience installing storm, sewer, and water systems.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment safely.
- Familiarity with trench safety and utility construction practices.
- Ability to read grade stakes and construction plans is a plus.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
Preferred but Not Required
- Competent Person Training.
- Experience operating compactors, skid steers, or other construction equipment.

Pay
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday
- Occasional Saturdays as needed
- Day Shift
