American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large academic, Level I Trauma acute care hospital, with Epic proficiency required.

Short-term acute care setting at a large academic teaching and Level I Trauma facility with 1,259 staffed beds
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Weekend rotation required every third weekend

Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required

Charting performed in Epic; experience required
-
Airway management procedures include endotracheal tube management/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning

Medication administration includes Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex
-
Medication delivery systems include aerosol setup (mask and trach) and metered dose inhaler

Nebulizer types include hand-held, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic

Oxygen therapy includes High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Ventilator management includes BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation required

Current RRT credential required

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required

Epic EMR experience required

Valid Missouri state license required; Illinois candidates may be considered with a pending IL license (please note if applicable)

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Orientation modules must be completed prior to or during the start of the assignment

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Allied travelers may work up to 12 months continuously before a mandatory 6-month break in service is required
-
Monthly parking passes are available on-site at varying rates depending on the lot; parking details will be provided upon assignment start
