The City of Keene is looking for a dedicated Water and Sewer Service Aide II to help maintain and repair our City’s essential water and sewer systems.
As a Water and Sewer Service Aide II, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that our water and wastewater infrastructure stays safe, reliable, and in top condition for the residents of Keene.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer mains, including locating and diagnosing stoppages, leaks, and service breaks.
- Help lay out new water and sewer main lines.
- Install water and sewer service taps.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on systems and equipment (lubrication, inspections, corrosion control, etc.).
- Maintain fire hydrants and assist with water meter reading, replacement, testing, and rebuilding.
- Support seasonal duties like snow plowing and removal, as well as mowing, pruning, and general landscaping.
- Take care of general facility housekeeping and painting projects.
- Be available for on-call shifts for emergency water/sewer work, with a required 60-minute response time.
- Stay up to date with training and maintain state certifications.
Note: This position is subject to recall and stand-by duty during non-regular working hours, weekends, and holidays. This position should be able to respond within 60 minutes, depending on weather conditions, to staff the work site. In addition, once a CDL is obtained, this position is subject to federal commercial driver’s license (CDL) drug and alcohol requirements.
Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-12 months of related experience and/or training. This position must obtain a CDL with tank endorsement and air brakes within 18 months of employment. Both the Grade I NH Water Distribution Certificate and Grade I Wastewater Collection Certificate are desired!
Pay and Benefits:
During the 6-month probationary period, the pay rate for this position is $21.28 per hour. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, this position will move to the regular pay schedule which consists of pay steps and hourly rates ranging from $22.13- $26.91 per hour, depending on experience.
