The Porter/Groundskeeper at Chesapeake Pointe is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the property’s common areas, grounds, and amenities. This role ensures a welcoming and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors while supporting the maintenance and service team with routine tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain common areas, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, elevators, and restrooms
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, furniture, and fixtures
- Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and debris from common areas and grounds
- Maintain outdoor areas, including sidewalks, courtyards, parking areas, and landscaped spaces
- Remove snow, ice, leaves, and other hazards from pathways and entrances as required
Support to Maintenance and Service Team:
- Assist maintenance staff with minor repairs, preventative maintenance preparation, and work order support
- Transport supplies, tools, and equipment as directed
- Notify management or maintenance team of safety hazards, maintenance needs, or damages
- Assist with move-in/move-out processes, including unit trash out and cleaning as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE
- Ensure compliance with property policies, safety regulations, and cleanliness standards
- Report incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately
Resident and Staff Interaction:
- Provide courteous, professional service to residents, staff, and visitors
- Respond promptly to requests for assistance within scope of duties
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial, groundskeeping, or property maintenance experience a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, tools, and basic property maintenance equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Availability for on-call or emergency tasks as required
