Pega Infrastructure Administrator
Lead the design, execution, and operational stabilization of a production Pega 8.8.5 → Infinity 25.1 migration to AWS EKS along with Java Spring boot and Python stack of application. A hybrid execution and architectural role requiring hands-on containerization expertise, production migration strategy, and externalizations platform selection.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pega Externalizations – Evaluation & Implementation
Evaluate and recommend Cassandra, OpenSearch, Hazelcast-replacement, and AWS MSK for Pega externalization within the Infinity 25.1 architecture. Configure, validate in staging, and coordinate production cutover with zero data loss.
1. Containerization & EKS Deployment (8.8.5 & Infinity 25.1)
Design and build Helm charts for both versions, including resource sizing and persistent storage for Pega application pods. Establish staging/QA/production promotion pipelines for repeatable deployments.
1. On-Premises Pega Baseline (Tomcat/WebLogic)
Configure and validate current Pega 8.8.5 instances on Tomcat and WebLogic, documenting data source and JVM tuning.
1. Pega Version Upgrade Execution (8.8.5 → Infinity 25.1)
Plan the upgrade path, identifying breaking changes and dependency updates. Execute a pilot upgrade in staging or sandbox, validate functionality and performance, then lead production cutover with a tested rollback plan.
1. Spring Boot & Python Application Support
Deploy and manage Spring Boot and Python applications in EKS or ECS alongside Pega using Helm. Support integration between services and troubleshoot application-level issues as they arise.
1. Production Operations & Post-Migration Support (12–18 months)
Monitor Pega application health (heap, throughput, queue depth) and externalization services. Manage patch cycles, respond to production incidents, and refine runbooks based on operational experience.
1. Capacity Planning & Cost Optimization
Right-size EKS nodes, RDS instances, and externalization services based on workload trends. Recommend Reserved Instance/Savings Plan strategies and identify on-prem decommissioning opportunities as workloads shift to EKS.
Required Experience
● 5+ years infrastructure administration; 3+ years hands-on Pega platform operations (8.x or Infinity)
● Containerization experience: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm charts(stateful applications preferred)
● AWS services: EKS, RDS, EC2, IAM, S3, CloudWatch; Terraform or CloudFormation
● Externalizations platforms: Cassandra, OpenSearch, Hazelcast, Apache Kafka
● Scripting: Bash, Python, or equivalent
● Pega deployment or upgrade experience
● AWS Migration or similar large-scale infrastructure migration
