Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Afterschool Teacher to join our dynamic youth development team. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children during afterschool hours, fostering their social, emotional, and academic growth. Responsibilities
- Supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities including arts and crafts, sports, educational games, and outdoor play
- Implement Literacy and Math Curriculum
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques
- Support children with homework assistance and tutoring to reinforce learning objectives
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment conducive to learning and fun
- Implement first aid protocols when necessary, including CPR and AED operation, to respond promptly to emergencies
- Collaborate with team members to develop age-appropriate curricula that promote childhood development and youth engagement
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behaviors effectively
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development best practices
- Experience in outdoor work environments or sports coaching enhances ability to lead active play
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, or willingness to obtain these certifications upon hire is required
- Background in special education or working with children with special needs is a plus
- Proven ability to lead youth group activities and foster positive relationships with children and families
