Job Summary
We have an open position hauling wrecked vehicles to our automotive recycling facility. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting primarily auction vehicles. We have 3 vehicles you would be operating, 1 Semi (7 car capacity) , a 3500 truck and trailer ( 3 car) as well as a rollback (1 -2 car capacity)
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and specialized trucks such as flatbeds.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Load and unload vehicles or freight with manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts, ensuring proper securing of loads in accordance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable.
- Drive across various routes, including urban, rural, and interstate highways, maintaining a professional driving record at all times.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for hazardous materials or dangerous goods that require special handling.
- Follow all safety protocols related to manual transmission operation, cargo handling, and transportation of hazardous or sensitive materials.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance needs, and delivery documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL license with endorsements for vehicle transport
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers or specialty trucks such as flatbeds.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and safety standards
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient deliveries.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment when necessary.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures and route driving best practices.
