JOB Under general direction of the Parks Supervisor II, performs a variety of general maintenance in the upkeep and maintenance of City parks and/or other City areas; and operates and maintains specialized equipment related to assignment. Depending on assignment, positions in this classification may have primary responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of designated parks or other recreational/City facilities; or the operation of specialized equipment in the maintenance of City park turf areas. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. - Performs a variety of grounds keeping duties which include litter control, ball field preparation, Equestrian arena preparation, and janitorial duties as needed.
- Operates parks equipment such as tractor, backhoe, loader, dragging machine, mower, and other related maintenance vehicles.
- Follows all safety guidelines in operating equipment; ensures work completed meets applicable codes and regulations.
- Performs a variety of duties in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems; adjust and maintain timers and controllers, repair sprinkler heads and lines; locate and repair water breaks, refer problems to higher level park maintenance staff as required.
- Processes work orders and maintain a daily log of all work and repairs performed.
- Performs a variety of duties in the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings within the park system.
- Performs a variety of duties for the set up/take down of special events.
- Communicates with co-workers, immediate supervisor, other City personnel, and the public in order to provide assistance, receive instructions, exchange information, and complete daily job related activities.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
