Position Title: Full-Time Dog Nanny
Position Overview: A dedicated and responsible full-time Dog Carer to join the team at Jane Street House, responsible for the daily care, walking, feeding, and general well-being of the household dogs. The role requires extensive overseas travel and someone who is passionate about animals, detail-oriented, professional and well-presented, able to adhere to a structured routine while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and care. Professionalism and reliability are the most important attributes for this job, ensuring that at all times the dogs are well cared for and the owner feels comfortable leaving them in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the dog's overall health, safety, and happiness at all times
- Maintain a strict routine for feeding, walking, grooming, and other daily care (to the minute)
- Administer any required medications or supplements as directed by a veterinarian
- Provide multiple daily walks, tailored to the dog’s energy level and specific needs
- Ensure that the dog receives sufficient exercise, stimulation, and socialization
- Be aware of the dog’s surroundings to ensure safety during walks (e.g., avoiding crowded areas and keep Loki away from unknown dogs)
- Regularly groom the dog, including brushing, cleaning paws, and bathing as needed
- Schedule and attend professional grooming sessions as required/ every 2 months
- Maintain cleanliness by ensuring the dog’s sleeping and feeding areas are clean and tidy
- Prepare and serve meals according to a specific diet plan, ensuring proper portion control
- Monitor and record the dog’s eating habits and food intake, noting any changes or concerns
- Stock and manage high-quality dog food, snacks, and any dietary supplements
- Monitor for signs of illness, injury, or discomfort and report to the dog manager immediately
- Keep track of veterinary appointments and records, and accompany the dogs to the vet
- Coordinate routine check-ups, vaccinations, and health screenings with dog Manager
- Provide the dog manager monthly reports on the health and well-being of both dogs
- Support the dog manager in prepare the all necessary paperwork for overseas travel
- Accompany the dog during travel if required
- Work with household staff to ensure the dog’s are integrated within the principals routine
- Ensure that the dogs are clean and well-presented at all times
- Be flexible around the principals plans- such as feeding or walking preferences
- Ensure a steady supply of necessary items (food, treats, grooming products, etc.)
- Manage the purchase and restocking of any disposable items or food for the dogs
- Keep detailed records of expenses related to the dog's care and purchases
- Reinforce training and behavioural guidelines established by the professional trainers
- Address any behavioural issues in a calm and professional manner.
- Maintain the highest level of discretion, professionalism, privacy and confidentiality
- Be flexible with work hours, including weekends, evenings, and potential overnight stays.
- Be available for on-call duties in case of unexpected travel or emergencies
- Prepare the dog for any special events, ensuring they are clean, well-groomed etc
- Ensure the dog’s comfort during social functions
Requirements for the position:
- Proven experience in animal care, particularly with dogs
- Maintain a consistent routine and adapt to changes requested by the Principal
- Physically fit to handle long walks and physically care for the dog
- Strong communication skills to liaise with household staff and management
- Ability to work flexible hours, including rare evening duties
- Reliability, professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond
Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 4-8 hours a day 5 days per week.
Some flexibility may be required for occasional late evening or weekend work.
Overseas Travel: There will likely be overseas travel after a 4 months probation period. This will be up to a maximum of 150 days per year.
