We are a fast-paced dermatology and cosmetic practice in Wilmington currently looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to support our dynamic team and provide exceptional service to our patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Guide patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, preparing for exams, etc. Collect patient information/history.
- Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Assist physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc.).
- Scribe/Document for physician while in the room.
- Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patients, and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave.
- Collect and accurately process specimens.
- Handle medication refills.
- Maintain and stock patient rooms.
- Triage patient calls.
- Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Able to triage patient problems.
- Be familiar and compliant with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
- Experience administering injections.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
- Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.
Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- CPR certified preferred.
- 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.
