A restaurant host is the first person who greets guests. They set the tone for the dining experience. They manage reservations, track table availability, and escort customers to their seats. They also provide wait times and manage the front entry area. This position is a tipable position and is not included in houry pay.
- Greeting: Welcome guests with a warm, friendly smile as they arrive.
- Seating: Guide guests to their tables and hand out menus. Give servers an even amount of tables so they do not get too busy at once.
- Waitlists & Reservations: Answer phone calls and book tables. Tell waiting guests how long until a table is ready.
- Tidiness: Keep the front desk area clean. Check that menus are clean and not torn.
- Teamwork: Help servers by clearing dirty plates or refilling water glasses during busy times.
