Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

About the Opportunity
A well-established heavy industrial manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support the reliability and performance of critical plant systems. This position plays a key role in maintaining electrical equipment, instrumentation devices, automation systems, and process controls that support continuous production operations.
The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting abilities, hands-on industrial maintenance experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical equipment.
- Diagnose issues involving motors, motor control centers, drives, power distribution systems, and related equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability.
- Install, test, and maintain instrumentation used to monitor process conditions such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level.
- Support process control systems including PLCs, operator interfaces, and automated plant equipment.
- Assist with equipment upgrades, system improvements, and automation projects.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and process drawings.
- Document maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and calibration records.
- Work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering personnel to minimize downtime and improve plant performance.
- Participate in safety programs and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and procedures.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance experience.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting methods.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience working with instrumentation and automated process equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred
- Associate degree or technical training in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline.
- Experience in cement, mining, aggregates, steel, chemical processing, power generation, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with PLC programming, industrial networking, and control systems.
Work Environment
This position operates in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility and requires exposure to:
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Dust, noise, heat, and moving equipment
- Elevated work areas
- Confined spaces when required
- Physical activities including climbing, walking, lifting, bending, and carrying materials
Candidates must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and successfully complete any pre-employment screening requirements.
