Our client, REED Manufacturing at 1425 West 8th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced 2nd or 3rd Shift CNC Machinist (Class A and B) to join their unionized organization. This role involves set-up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with detailed specifications.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC machining with mills and lathes as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. Available Shifts - 2nd shift or 3rd shift
Salary - $24.35 - $29.65/hr. with a $.60 shift differential for either shift
Job Responsibilities
- Set-up, load and run CNC mills in an assigned group of machines to maintain productivity and meet production requirements.
- Set-up, load and run CNC lathes (multiple spindles, turrets and live tooling) in an assigned group of machines and maintain productivity and meet production requirements. Set-up, load and run bar feeders for lathes.
- Make tooling offsets, machine origins offsets and adjustments to ensure part quality.
- Set-up and run other machines as directed.
- Utilize drawings, set-up instructions, routers, forms, inspection sheets, and system reports.
- Must accurately measure parts to specifications and maintain proper part quality conformance. Reports and records quality issues daily to the quality department.
- Performs operator maintenance on machinery (add coolant, change inserts, chip removal, etc)
- Maintain housekeeping and safe work environment.
- Keeps accurate records of job orders, time spent and parts produced each day.
- Work as a team, make suggestions for improvement and communicate within the department to ensure continuity between all shifts/departments.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Education, Experience and Skills
- A minimum of five years’ experience working as a CNC Set-Up Machinist
- Possess a high mechanical aptitude.
- Perform duties with minimal supervision.
- A post high school degree in CNC Machining or completion of an Apprenticeship Program is preferred.
- In addition, the ideal performer will be a motivated self-starter with good interpersonal and technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on verbal and written levels.
