We are seeking an experienced Recycling Operations Ferrous Supervisor to lead daily recycling yard operations, ensure a safe work environment, manage inventory, and oversee the processing and shipment of ferrous scrap metal. This role is responsible for supervising employees, maintaining quality standards, coordinating logistics, and driving operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ferrous metal grading, inventory management, safety compliance, and production operations within a recycling or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily ferrous processing, inventory, and shipping operations.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
- Manage Work-in-Process (WIP) and Finished Goods inventories to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Coordinate shipments, logistics, transportation schedules, and customer requirements.
- Monitor product quality and ensure materials meet customer and industry specifications.
- Schedule and direct employees and equipment to maximize productivity.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and profitability.
- Work closely with commercial, logistics, maintenance, and operations teams to meet production goals.
- Train and develop team members on safety procedures, operational processes, and quality standards.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and work areas remain clean and organized.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in metal recycling, scrap processing, or industrial operations.
- Strong knowledge of ferrous scrap grading and inventory control.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on leadership role in an active recycling yard. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, around heavy equipment, and in varying weather conditions. Some lifting, walking, and climbing may be required.
