Position Summary
Imaging Service Solutions (ISS) is seeking an experienced MRI Field Service Engineer to support the continued expansion of our MRI service business. The preferred candidate will have strong Siemens MRI field service experience and training, with Philips MRI experience considered an additional advantage. The FSE will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, upgrades, technical support, and selected installation/deinstallation activities for customer MRI systems. The position is focused primarily on the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, with travel elsewhere in the United States as service needs require.
Job Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and performance verification on MRI systems at hospitals and imaging centers.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic, mechanical, RF, gradient, cooling, computer, networking, and system-control faults using approved service documentation and diagnostic tools.
- Provide field service support on Siemens MRI systems, with emphasis on platforms such as Magnetom Aera, Skyra, Sola, Espree, Avanto, and Symphony where experience is applicable.
- Support Philips MRI systems where qualified, including Ingenia, Achieva, Intera, and related platforms.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide onsite and remote technical support to customers and internal teams.
- Perform system calibrations, software/hardware upgrades, quality checks, and post-repair performance verification.
- Assist with MRI installation, deinstallation, equipment evaluation, and system harvesting projects when required.
- Document all service activity accurately and promptly, including findings, corrective actions, parts used, and follow-up recommendations.
- Coordinate with ISS operations, technical staff, parts teams, and customer personnel to drive first-time fix and system uptime.
- Follow applicable OSHA, EPA, site safety, MRI safety, electrical safety, and medical-device service requirements.
- When working from the Baltimore facility, provide technical support for parts evaluation, testing, harvesting, and other service-related operational needs as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on MRI or advanced diagnostic imaging field service experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective service at customer sites with minimal supervision.
- Strong electronics troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic skills, including the ability to read schematics and service documentation.
- Working knowledge of MRI subsystems including RF, gradients, cooling/chillers, patient handling systems, computers, networking, and related control systems.
- Ability to work independently in field service environments while communicating professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently, including overnight travel.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift or carry up to 100 pounds, with assistance available for items over 50 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish colors and maintain vision sufficient for field service work.
- Must not have body implants or devices incompatible with high magnetic fields.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to comprehensive background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- OEM or equivalent Siemens MRI service training and significant hands-on Siemens MRI field experience.
- Experience servicing Siemens Magnetom Aera, Skyra, Sola, Espree, Avanto, Symphony, and/or related Siemens MRI platforms.
- Philips MRI service experience, especially Ingenia, Achieva, Intera, Panorama HFO, or related Philips MRI platforms.
- Multi-vendor MRI experience and the ability to work across more than one OEM platform.
- Experience with MRI cryogenic, magnet, RF, gradient, cooling, and image-quality troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting full-service agreements, PM programs, and high-uptime hospital environments.
- CT service experience is a plus, but the primary need for this position is MRI.
- Healthcare imaging industry experience, military technical training, or equivalent advanced technical background.
- Spanish bilingual capability is a plus.
