American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a CA license and advanced ECMO/mechanical circulatory support experience for a high-acuity float pool position at an academic medical center.

Float pool ICU RN position covering TCUs, ICUs, ED, and PACU rather than a single unit assignment
-
Patient population includes complex critical care and cardiovascular ICU patients requiring ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA catheter management

Patient ratio of 1:2

12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), with schedule cycles of 4 weeks that may switch between day and night shift

Floating required to other ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU, and potentially to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius

Epic charting system experience preferred

Active CA RN license required
-
BSN required
-
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred

Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required

CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required
-
ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required, including bedside RN management of ECMO patients without dedicated perfusion support

Trauma Level II experience required

Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Travel nursing experience required, having completed a travel assignment within the past 12 months and totaling 1 year or less of travel experience in the past 5 years

Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients

Strong interpersonal communication skills required
-
Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
-
Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and high flow nasal cannula preferred

Two references from most recent employer required for consideration

Function within an Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Care (ICC) model, managing complex mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support therapies
-
Preferred experience includes VA/VV/V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, ventricular assist devices, and pulmonary artery catheters
-
Preferred experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock, cardiothoracic surgery recovery, and heart/lung transplant recovery

Highly desirable to have academic medical center experience and simultaneous management of multiple support devices (e.g. ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella, ECMO + IABP)

Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed with employment dates, units worked, and manager names for rehire eligibility review

All RTO must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; RTO requests will not be accepted mid-contract and cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment

Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
