Job Summary:
The MCTC Career Coordinator for the Macomb Career Tech Consortium supports Macomb County students enrolled in Mechatronics, HVAC, and Welding programs at Macomb Community College's Warren Campus. This position serves as the liaison between the college and local school districts and is the first point of contact and communication for parents and guardians.
Every Friday, the MCTC Career Coordinator plans and facilitates Career Readiness Days for all Consortium students. These sessions are designed to build the employability skills students need to transition successfully into careers or further education and may include facility and industry tours, guest speaker presentations, resume writing workshops, mock interviews, and other hands-on career development activities.
The MCTC Career Coordinator will play a key role in CTE compliance, working alongside the MISD to ensure the Consortium’s CTE programs meet all state requirements. This includes supporting the CIP Self Review process, gathering and maintaining required program documentation, and hosting and organizing Program Advisory Committee meetings.

Assistant Superintendent for Instruction/Chief Academic Officer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; degree in counseling, education, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with a School Counseling endorsement (NT); or experience supporting students in a CTE or other academic setting willl be considered.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse secondary or post-secondary student populations.
- Knowledge of Career & Technical Education (CTE), industry certifications, and career pathways in skilled trades preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to groups of students, parents, and community partners.
- Highly organized, reliable, and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience planning events, coordinating schedules, or facilitating professional development or workshops is a plus.
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
Assigned Responsibilities Shall Include But Not Be Limited To:
Student & Family Support
- Serve as the liaison between Macomb Community College and local school districts, facilitating communication regarding student attendance, progress, and program participation.
- Act as the first point of contact for parents and guardians with questions or concerns about the Consortium program.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with a diverse student population across Mechatronics, HVAC, and Welding programs.
- Provide academic and career guidance to help students identify goals, navigate challenges, and plan for post-program success.
Career Readiness Days (Every Friday)
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate weekly Career Readiness Days for all Consortium students.
- Schedule and organize industry and facility tours, connecting students with employers in skilled trades and related fields.
- Recruit and coordinate guest speakers from business, industry, and post-secondary education.
- Deliver or coordinate direct instruction in employability skills including resume writing, interview preparation, workplace professionalism, and job search strategies.
- Maintain a calendar of Career Readiness Day activities and ensure programming is relevant, engaging, and aligned with industry expectations.
CTE Compliance & Program Support
- Support the CIP Self Review process by gathering, organizing, and maintaining required CTE program documentation for each Consortium CTE program.
- Plan, host, and facilitate Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, including agenda preparation, member communication, and meeting minutes.
- Ensure Consortium programs remain in compliance with all Michigan CTE requirements as outlined by the Michigan Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE).
- Collaborate with the MISD CEPD Administrator to address compliance gaps and implement program improvements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in support of Perkins V reporting and program monitoring requirements.
General
- Attend relevant professional development, CTE events, and MISD CEPD meetings as requested.
- Stay current on CTE guidelines, policies, career development trends, and skilled trades workforce data.
- Collaborate with MISD staff, MCC faculty, and sending district personnel to support program quality and student experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
