Overview
The Substation Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily field operations on substation construction and maintenance projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable regulations.
Duties
- Supervise and lead field crews in substation construction, maintenance, and repair activities
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
- Interpret and execute project drawings, specifications, and work orders
- Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager on project progress and scheduling
- Monitor crew productivity and job quality
- Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping, and job documentation
- Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and materials
- Identify and troubleshoot job site issues and escalate when necessary
- Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced crew members
Qualifications
- 5+ years of substation or related electrical construction experience
- Prior leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of substation equipment and construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
