Purpose of Position
The Dental Hygienist provides and executes oral health services (screenings, cleanings, sealants, fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride, oral health education, etc.) through the school-based Clark County Seal-A-Smile program, in collaboration with a Public Health Nurse and another Dental Hygienist. The Dental Hygienist is responsible for direct patient care using portable dental equipment. Day-to-day activities vary based on program needs. The Clark County Health Department maintains a State of WI Department of Safety & Professional Services mobile dentistry program license.
This position will be approximately 10-20 hours per week. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Provide oral health expertise and leadership and ensure the delivery of related services are evidence-based and/or best practices

Ensure compliance with relevant practice guidelines, state contracts, and federal and state law regulations

Develop and recommend policy and programmatic options related to oral health services

Ensure policies and procedures are current

Collaborate with schools, dental providers, and others to ensure effective program operations and follow-up care

Collaborate and assure the quality of oral health services with any oral health staff

Order and maintain program materials, supplies, equipment, etc.

Document provision of oral health services on a regular and timely basis

Display integrity and comply with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of work

Establish and maintain a courteous, cooperative, and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors, and public officials

Assist Health Department staff with fiscal and operational management of the Clark County Seal-A-Smile program and Community Oral Health program

Promote and facilitate the incorporation of departmental core values and strategic initiatives into daily service delivery work

Use cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and cost-utility analyses in programmatic decision making

Participate in improving agency performance, processes, programs, and interventions through continuous quality improvement

Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings as assigned

Participate in annual respirator fit testing

Work to support the mission of the department and adhere to the core values as described in the most current agency strategic plan

Responsible to know all county policies and procedures

Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner

Assume responsibility for seeking continuing education to maintain and improve dental skills and expertise

Support the operational needs of the Health Department, as assigned
