The primary focus is on modified curriculums, communication support, and activities of daily living skills.Excellent Ratios: The class currently has only 5 students, supported by 2 to 3 dedicated paraprofessionals in addition to the lead teacher.Streamlined Focus: The current cohort of students does not have any major behavioral issues or complex medical needs, allowing you to focus deeply on teaching, communication, and functional life skills.Collaborative Environment: You will work alongside a tight-knit, supportive school community dedicated to helping these students thrive and transition into mainstream settings whenever possible.General ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills, and ability to: Design, adapt, and implement highly modified academic instruction tailored to individual student needs.Embed functional communication and daily living skills instruction into the daily routine.Supervise and collaborate effectively with a dedicated team of 23 paraprofessionals.Maintain a positive, predictable, and nurturing learning environment that promotes student independence and dignity.Partner collaboratively with families, therapists, and general education staff to support inclusive opportunities and mainstream transitions as appropriate.QualificationsMassachusetts DESE Certification in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 preferred, Severe Certification also considered).Experience with modified curriculums, assistive communication technologies, and activities of daily living skills instruction.Strong collaboration, communication, and team-leadership skills.Thank you for considering employment with the Lunenburg Public Schools.
