Title: Slitter Operator

Overview: The Slitter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining slitting equipment to ensure materials are cut accurately and efficiently in accordance with specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and basic mathematical skills. The operator plays a critical role in maintaining production quality, equipment functionality, and workplace safety.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Machine Setup and Operation

Set up slitter machines, ensuring proper operation, accurate rewind, footage, cores, and blade sizes.

Adjust roll/material guides, brake, tension, and laydown pressure as required.

Thread material through the machine initially by hand, then jog it through the cutting anvil.

Thread sheeting through the slitter and verify dimensions using a ruler, tape measure, and measurement counter.

Lower slitter knives to achieve proper cutting pressure based on material specifications.

Operate the slitter machine to cut materials according to job requirements.
Production and Performance

Apply basic mathematical skills to determine the most efficient material usage and cutting methods.

Meet established productivity and quality standards for each job and material type.
Quality Control and Monitoring

Monitor machine operation and product output to ensure specifications are met.

Observe the slitter machine and immediately report mechanical or quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
Preventive Maintenance and Equipment Care

Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.

Clean machines at the start of and throughout each shift, including using an air gun to remove debris.

Clean blade holders and prepare equipment for daily operation.

Perform startup and shutdown procedures on the slitter machine, laser machine, and associated computer systems.
