Job Summary
Manitou Passage Golf Club is seeking a superb and energetic manager to lead our turf management and grounds department. The successful candidate will have a passion for golf and turf grass management, strong understanding of the golf business, experience in management, and exceptional abilities to manage people. This individual will oversee all turf grass, pumps, irrigation, landscape, ponds and golf related features. They will also work closely with our General Manager to ensure the superb quality of course and exceptional guest experience.
Manitou Passage Golf Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf course located in Cedar, Michigan. This championship caliber course is in the heart of Leelanau County and adjacent to the magnificent Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Mountain Flowers Par 3, is located at The Homestead resort.
Responsibilities
- Hiring and training of all staff related to golf course grounds maintenance

Manage daily operations

Lead budgeting for areas of responsibility and report frequently against results

Day-to-day operations as well as specifically targeted course improvements as outlined by management team

Monitors and reports on report on guest satisfaction

Assist general manager and other team members with the overall management of the property to maximize guest satisfaction and profitability.

Work with General Manager and senior management to re-open The Homestead Resorts 9 hole golf course, Mountain Flowers.
- Seasonal responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting The Homestead resort with operations, spraying necessary chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, off season golf course maintenance, leaf removal, snow removal, ski operations, and other duties assigned by General Manager, and senior leadership at The Homestead resort.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred with a concentration in turf grass management or horticulture

3-5 years of full-time management or equivalent work experience in the golf grounds management or other relevant experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office

Proven ability to work in an aggressive team environment

Strong prioritization skills, with ability to direct multiple projects simultaneously, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of quality work product

Candidates must have a valid Michigan applicators spray license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally and meet individual and team deadlines

Experience managing people, including hiring, training, discipline, and coaching
Compensation
Salary commensurate with education, skills, and experience with benefits and annual bonus. Hiring range $65,000+ depending on experience.
