Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Recovery Attorney to represent residential and commercial property owners in insurance coverage disputes. The attorney will advocate for policyholders whose claims have been denied, delayed, underpaid, or otherwise mishandled by insurance carriers. The practice will focus on property damage losses, including fire, storm, water, hail, wind, and other catastrophic events, as well as bad faith insurance litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent policyholders in first-party property insurance claims and litigation.
- Analyze insurance policies, coverage issues, exclusions, and endorsements.
- Handle claims involving fire damage, smoke damage, water intrusion, storm losses, business interruption, and other property-related losses.
- Investigate and pursue insurance bad faith claims arising from improper claim handling, unreasonable delays, wrongful denials, and unfair settlement practices.
- Draft demand letters, coverage opinions, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
- Conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances.
- Work with public adjusters, engineers, contractors, accountants, and damage experts to evaluate losses and establish claim value.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and their counsel.
- Manage litigation matters from pre-suit investigation through trial when necessary.
- Advise clients regarding insurance coverage rights and recovery strategies.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license in the state of California .
- Experience in insurance recovery, insurance coverage litigation, property damage litigation, or bad faith litigation.
- Strong knowledge of property insurance policies and insurance law.
- Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload while maintaining high client service standards.
Preferred Experience
- Commercial property insurance claims.
- Fire loss and large-loss property claims.
- Business interruption coverage disputes.
- Insurance bad faith litigation.
- Trial and mediation experience.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
