- Head Coach: $40 – $50 per hour

Schedule:
- Fall season: Tuesday, September 8, 2026 – Thursday, October 29, 2026, adhering to the Bank Street calendar

Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Games: Home games begin at 3:30 PM and typically run an hour and a half to two hours, ending at approximately 5:00 PM; away games end at approximately 6:00 PM. Game duration may vary depending on travel distance from Bank Street.

About the Position
The Running Coach leads Bank Street’s Upper School Running Clinic, conducting weekly practices and coaching games throughout the fall season. Working under the supervision of the Auxiliary Programs team, the coach embodies Bank Street’s values of sportsmanship, integrity, and youth development, and creates an environment where student athletes build skill, confidence, and a sense of team. This role is well suited to a dynamic coach with experience working with 5th through 8th grade students and an understanding of social and emotional learning.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Instruction
- Create and submit practice plans

Conduct practices and coach games two to three days per week

Set up and clean up equipment and facilities before and after practices and games

Implement appropriate safety measures to ensure the well-being of students
Student Supervision and Mentorship
- Supervise students and staff members throughout the sports clinic

Build relationships with students, faculty, and family members

Serve as an effective communicator who can mentor students

Model professional leadership and encourage positive behavior by adhering to Bank Street rules and regulations

Oversee the dismissal of students after every practice and game
Communication and Administration
- Communicate weekly with families via email

Handle administrative responsibilities as necessary

Uphold Bank Street’s principles and values of equity, diversity, and inclusion
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma
-
Experience playing or coaching running or cross country with youth athletes or school-age children
-
Availability to attend all team practices, games, and meetings across the fall season

Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification prior to the start of the season

Willingness to collaborate as part of a team and to develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole group
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree

Experience coaching 5th through 8th grade students

Understanding of social and emotional learning

Experience in youth sports and family engagement activities

Prior experience working as part of the Bank Street community
