Line Lead – Recycling Operations

Position Summary
The Line Lead is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the recycling sorting line, ensuring safe, efficient, and productive performance by all line personnel. This role serves as the primary point of communication between line employees, equipment operators, and management to maintain a smooth workflow and achieve production goals.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to motivate and develop team members in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead employees assigned to the material sorting line.
- Coordinate daily activities with equipment operators and management to maximize production efficiency.
- Train all new line personnel on facility operations, safety procedures, proper sorting techniques, equipment awareness, and housekeeping standards.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and ongoing training to improve productivity and quality.
- Ensure all personnel follow company safety policies, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe work environment.
- Assign workstations and responsibilities based on operational needs.
- Monitor conveyor line operations and communicate any production or equipment issues promptly to management and maintenance personnel.
- Assist with daily inspections and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate shift performance to supervisors.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce contamination, and minimize downtime.
Performance Expectations
The Line Lead will be responsible for:
- Meeting or exceeding daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual production quotas.
- Maintaining high standards of quality and sorting accuracy.
- Ensuring all employees work safely and efficiently.
- Reducing downtime through effective communication and coordination.
- Developing employees through consistent training and leadership.
- Supporting operational goals while maintaining a clean and organized facility.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous leadership experience in recycling, manufacturing, warehouse, production, or other industrial operations is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively train and motivate employees.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills are preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work safely around moving conveyors, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
Work Environment
This position is located in an active recycling facility with exposure to moving equipment, conveyor systems, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions. The successful candidate must be committed to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
