JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN – SOLAR INDUSTRY
Direct Hire | $30–$40 per Hour | Gainesville, FL
Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced Journeyman Electrician for a confidential direct-hire opportunity with an established employer in the Gainesville area.
This position performs electrical work supporting residential and commercial solar installations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code, experience reading electrical plans and the ability to guide apprentices and other members of an installation crew.
Compensation and Schedule
- $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience
- Permanent, direct-hire position
- Full-time, primarily daytime schedule
- Overtime, evenings or weekends may occasionally be required
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
Key Responsibilities
- Install residential and commercial electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code
- Perform electrical work associated with solar and photovoltaic installations
- Install conduit, wiring, panels, disconnects, inverters and related electrical equipment
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints and project specifications
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical systems
- Determine safe and efficient approaches to new electrical installations
- Supervise and provide guidance to apprentices and unlicensed electricians
- Work with installation crews to complete solar projects safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with project managers, crew leaders and fellow installers
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding electrical systems and project progress
- Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures
- Maintain an organized jobsite, tools, materials and installation vehicle
- Review completed projects and identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician certification
- Residential, commercial or industrial electrical installation experience
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and installation plans
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an installation team
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment physical
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work safely at heights and on rooftops
- Ability to climb ladders and work while kneeling, bending or crouching
- Ability to remain on your feet for shifts of up to 10 hours
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold and changing weather conditions
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Solar or photovoltaic installation experience
- Experience supervising apprentices or electrical helpers
- OSHA 10 certification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency
