JOB PURPOSE:
Brief job description: The Block Lab in the Department of Animal Sciences is seeking a student laboratory assistant to perform general laboratory duties and to assist with ongoing research activities which are focused on animal reproduction. The student assistant will have the opportunity to gain research experience in the field of animal reproduction and learn various laboratory and animal-related techniques. Such techniques include cell culture, in vitro fertilization, embryo handling and manipulation, fluorescence microscopy, embryo transfer and reproductive ultrasonography.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities: The student assistant will perform general laboratory duties, which include dishwashing, sterilization of lab supplies and equipment, weekly laboratory cleaning, and quality control assessments of laboratory equipment. The student assistant will also assist graduate students with ongoing research projects related to animal reproduction, including assisting with various laboratory and animal procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled student at UW.
Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

Lab experience.
