Job Title: Housing Specialist II

Objective of the Position
The Housing Specialist supports the administration of subsidized housing programs by conducting eligibility determinations, processing routine transactions, and maintaining compliance with program regulations. This role requires a solid understanding of housing policies and procedures, the ability to manage moderately complex cases, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to program participants. While not at an expert level, the Housing Specialist II demonstrates growing proficiency, reliability, and initiative in handling housing-related tasks and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the housing team.
Responsibilities

Assist clients with the application process for subsidized housing programs (HCV, PH, LIHTC, etc.)

Review and verify documentation to determine eligibility.

Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case files.

Provide information and support to clients regarding program requirements and processes.

Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Assist in training and mentoring programs for team members.

Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certification in Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) is required.

Certification in Public Housing (PH), Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), or other affordable housing programs preferred.
Experience
-
3+ years of experience working with HUD funded programs (HCV, PBV, PH, or similar federalized housing programs) and regulatory housing compliance is required.

Working knowledge of HUD regulations including HOTMA, NSPIRE, SEMAP/PHAS, rent calculation, eligibility, and reasonable accommodation procedures is required.

Proven track record of achieving an 85%+ quality score.

Strong organizational and time management skills are required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Travel Requirement:
Travel is required as projects entail.
