About the job
Radio Mankato is seven live, local radio stations, plus a content studio, a digital advertising, and a brand strategy practice, all built around one thing: the businesses and people who live here. We are community-focused. When you sell for us, you're not pitching a spot. You're building a plan that puts radio at the center and layers in digital targeting, content, and brand positioning around it.
We're looking for a true sales professional. Someone community-focused and results-driven, for themselves and for every client they represent. Radio Mankato does real good in this community. We need someone who wants their work to matter here, not someone chasing a number and moving on.

You build your own book. Nobody hands you one. From day one, you're out finding businesses, starting real conversations, and turning prospects into clients.
You'll have support and a team around you, but this role belongs to you. Your results are your responsibility, not something that happens to you. We give you the platform, the brand, and the market. What you do with it is on you.
There's a two-year ramp-up period built into this role. Real time to build your book and grow into full earning potential. Move faster, and you're rewarded for it: incentives kick in if you hit full ramp ahead of schedule. Effort compresses the timeline. That's the whole point.
Core Responsibilities
- Prospect and build new business relationships from scratch across Southern Minnesota
- Run real discovery. Find out what a business actually needs before you pitch anything
- Build cross-platform campaign proposals anchored in radio, reinforced with digital, content, and brand strategy
- Work with our Creative and Digital team to get every campaign built right and out the door on time
- Own the client relationship start to finish, from first conversation through renewal
- Represent Radio Mankato at community events and station events
- Follow up. Close loops. Ensure nothing stalls.
What we need from you:
- 1–2 years of sales experience, media, advertising, or B2B preferred
- A genuine interest in this community and the businesses in it, not just the opportunity it presents
- A pipeline builder who can start from nothing and stay in it when it's slow
- Reliable transportation and a willingness to be in front of clients, not behind a desk
- Full-time commitment. This is not a side gig.
Compensation:
First-year earning potential generally falls in the $46,000–$50,000 range, though this can fluctuate based on experience. Structured two-year ramp-up period with a commission plan tied directly to what you build, plus incentives if you hit full ramp ahead of schedule. Six-figure earning potential for the right person who executes at a high level.
