This Custodial Worker 1 position is located in the Maintenance/Custodial Department of the Southeastern Veterans Center, one of six residential long-term care facilities operated by the Department of Military & Veterans Affairs. Your careful cleaning and attention to detail will help create a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position does routine manual work in public institutional buildings and surrounding grounds with a well-established routine to meet standards of cleanliness. Work involves using custodial supplies and modern cleaning equipment and may involve the moving and lifting of heavy furniture. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

- Restroom Care: Clean and sanitize all restrooms and restock essential supplies
- General Cleaning: Carry out cleaning tasks in resident rooms, offices, and public spaces, including mopping, dusting, polishing, sweeping, and buffing
- Waste Handling: Empty waste containers, dispose of trash and recyclables, and transport infectious waste to designated areas
- Supply Movement: Pick up or deliver cleaning supplies and move furniture or equipment as needed for cleaning or room rearrangement
- Safety Practices: Maintain a safe work environment, report hazards or issues, and follow all departmental safety rules

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch, rotating days and weekends
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

- A conditional offer of employment may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
