Barley & Boar is all about great food, genuine hospitality, and creating a welcoming experience for every guest who walks through our doors. We're looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable Host to join our front-of-house team.
This is a part-time position working Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00pm–9:00pm, with the potential for additional shifts as needed.
Pay: California minimum wage + cash tips
As the first and last person many of our guests interact with, our hosts play an important role in setting the tone for the entire dining experience. We're looking for someone who is warm, confident, professional, and comfortable working in a busy restaurant environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet every guest warmly and professionally
- Manage reservations & walk-ins
- Seat guests efficiently while maintaining proper table rotation
- Communicate clearly with servers and management throughout service
- Answer restaurant phone calls and assist guests with basic questions
- Keep the host stand and entrance clean, organized, and welcoming
- Assist with resetting and preparing tables when needed
- Help create a smooth flow of service during busy dinner shifts
- Support the front-of-house team wherever needed during service
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or customer service experience is preferred, but we're happy to train the right person
- Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable interacting with guests in person and over the phone
- Able to multitask and stay composed during busy service
- Dependable and punctual
- Must be available Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00pm–9:00pm
- Holiday availability may be required
Required Certification
- California Food Handler Card, or ability to obtain upon hire
