Job Overview:
This position provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post response duties.
- Attends to patients being transported by ambulance on non-emergency calls and is responsible for the patient's safety in route.
- Responsible for performing an initial assessment of the scene and patient including obtaining a brief targeted history and completing a physical exam.
- Recognizes and evaluates patients who require immediate attention and when necessary initiates emergency life saving treatment.
- Delivers and/or supervises the delivery of emergency patient care such as administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen and resuscitation with an ambu bag.
- Intubates when necessary.
- Inserts IVs and administers medication according to physician order or ACLS protocol.
- May participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other programs as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Maintains accurate supply levels
- Maintains vehicles in good working order and uses the vehicle with due regard.
- Performs daily preventative maintenance checks.
- Problem Solving: Under pressure must be able to analyze problems to identify underlying issues and determine a course of action for care of patient.

Reaching and bending, including reaching above shoulder height.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to perform shift work including working 12 hour shifts

Ability to communicate with employees, patients and visitors.
Ability to remain calm under stress.
