Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Barge Operator to oversee the safe and efficient operation of our barges on inland waterways. Duties
- Operate and control barge movements, ensuring precise navigation along waterways
- Conduct routine inspections of the barge’s mechanical systems to identify and address maintenance needs promptly
- Assist with rigging operations for loading and unloading Hoists safely and efficiently
- Maintain clear communication with crew members and other personnel during docking, departure, and transit procedures
- Follow all safety protocols diligently, including emergency procedures, to safeguard personnel and cargo at all times
Skills
- Strong rigging skills with the ability to handle lifting equipment safely and effectively
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on barge systems
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Clear communication skills for coordinating with team members and external partners
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to maritime operations and vessel handling
