Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status exams, and behavioral observations to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections following precise protocols, including psychotropic medications and other prescribed treatments.
- Monitor patient responses to interventions, managing acute behaviors and implementing de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Assist with therapeutic activities and coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers to support recovery goals.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including tube feeding, catheter care, and hygiene assistance.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care to promote ongoing recovery and community integration.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with mental health and addiction
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health practices, including trauma medicine, acute pain management, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR system such as KIPU for efficient documentation and patient tracking.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, vital sign assessments, and medication administration accurately.
- Skilled in patient assessment, triage procedures, and working within multidisciplinary teams in hospital or outpatient settings.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques critical for safe patient care.
