Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Senior Accountant to lead accounting operations across multiple companies, with a strong focus on manufacturing accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role requires deep cost accounting expertise, ERP system proficiency, and the ability to work collaboratively with Operations and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (ASC 330/606/842).
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and disciplined month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Own product and job costing: BOM/routing roll-ups, maintain standards, use cost versions, and lead annual/quarterly cost rolls with inventory/WIP revaluations.
- Design and maintain overhead rates by work center/driver; monitor under/over-absorption; publish variance reporting (PPV/usage, labor rate/efficiency, OH spend/volume).
- Manage WIP to FG to COGS flows; enforce shipment/receipt cut-off controls; reconcile inventory subledger to GL.
- Enforce accruals and proper matching of costs with revenue, including payroll (wages, taxes, bonuses, PTO), commissions/rebates, prepaids/deferrals, warranty/returns provisions.
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reports; monitor expenses, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with Operations to investigate variance root causes, maintain current standards/routings, and improve cost accuracy.
- Support audits, tax filings, and compliance activities; maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
- Establish and monitor KPIs such as close timeliness/accuracy, inventory-to-GL reconciling items, PPV/usage & OH volume variances, cost-roll completion, and variance action closure rates.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting workflows, ERP utilization, and BI reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP with specific expertise in accrual accounting, revenue recognition, matching principles, amortization/depreciation, deferrals, reserves, and controller-level closing checklists.
- Strong cost accounting proficiency: job costing, labor and overhead absorption, BOM/routing roll-ups, cost versions, and annual/quarterly cost rolls.
- Advanced inventory accounting expertise: valuation methods (FIFO/LIFO/weighted average), lower of cost or NRV testing, reserves for obsolescence/shrinkage, and adjustments.
- Hands-on experience with inventory control processes including cycle counts and tolerances.
- High proficiency in a major ERP (GSS, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft D365, NetSuite, Epicor, Infor) and advanced Excel/BI tools.
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to partner cross-functionally with Operations.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines under pressure.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
