Legend Technical Services, Inc. (LEGEND) is seeking an addition to our St Paul industrial hygiene department. LEGEND is preferentially seeking an experienced candidate with experience in performing hazardous materials assessments and on-site remediation project management but candidates with a BA/BS degree in a science or engineering field with a desire to work in the field and do some travel are welcome applicants. Experienced candidates should have certification in the state of MN in the asbestos areas of on-site air monitoring and asbestos inspections. Other IH related experiences are welcomed.
LEGEND has senior industrial hygiene people on staff including certified industrial hygienists (CIH) and certified hazardous materials managers (CHMM) to assist in career advancement in the industrial hygiene field beyond where you may be at now. Employees are responsible for preparing their own reports and receive a level of responsibility based on their training and skill set. The work will require some travel and over night stays at project locations depending on the location of the project and the project scope. Work is variable and can include hazardous materials assessments of buildings, working with remediation contractors to perform removals in a safe manner, performance of OSHA compliance testing, etc. Responsibility and work variability increases with increasing experience and knowledge. Work will count toward achieving the more recognized health and safety certifications such as CIH, CHMM, or CSP. LEGEND is seeking candidates that have an interest in the variability of field work, are bored by repetitive work, and desire challenges and a continuous learning environment. Ability to think is absolutely essential. Many of the reports have an established format so writing skills can be developed on the job. The work is well rounded including developing the work scope, performing work, preparing formal reports and interacting with people.
