As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Accounting Manager who can oversee financial quality, lead and mentor our bookkeeping team, and become an integral part of our leadership team.
About the Role
This is not a traditional bookkeeping position. We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys reviewing financial statements, solving complex accounting issues, and leading a team to produce clean, accurate, management-ready financials.
You will work closely with our Client Relationship Manager, who handles the day-to-day client communication and relationship management. Your focus will be on the accuracy, quality, and consistency of the work behind the scenes: reviewing financials, overseeing cleanup projects, and developing our bookkeeping staff.
This position is ideal for someone with public accounting, CAS, outsourced accounting, or accounting firm experience who wants to move into a leadership and quality control role.
This is an in-office position based in Sarasota, FL.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Oversight
- Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness
- Review account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Ensure financial reports are clean, accurate, and management-ready
- Identify accounting issues and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain high standards of quality across all client engagements
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor bookkeeping staff
- Answer accounting and QuickBooks-related questions
- Review team member work for quality and consistency
- Assist with training and professional development
- Help improve internal processes and efficiencies
QuickBooks Online & Cleanup Projects
- Oversee complex QuickBooks Online cleanup projects
- Correct historical bookkeeping issues
- Resolve multi-period reconciliation discrepancies
- Design and improve chart of accounts structures
- Ensure clients are positioned for accurate ongoing reporting
Collaboration
- Partner with the Client Relationship Manager to flag accounting issues that may need to be addressed with a client
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support client conversations, as needed
- Work cross functionally with the team to support client outcomes
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience within a public accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, CAS practice, or outsourced accounting environment
- Advanced QuickBooks Online experience
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
- Experience reviewing and correcting bookkeeping or accounting work
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Must be able to work in office in Sarasota, FL
Preferred
- CPA, CPA Candidate, or EA
- Restaurant accounting and job costing experience
- Experience managing a client portfolio
- Experience with cleanup and conversion projects
- Experience with multi-entity clients
- Experience within a Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment
- Familiarity with QBO, Double, Anchor, and Zoho
