American Motion Group (AMG) | Michigan
Reports to the President | Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Long Term Incentive Potential
Build the finance function that will power AMG's next chapter of growth.
This is an opportunity for a high potential builder with exceptional learning agility who enjoys solving complex problems, building better systems, and partnering closely with operators to improve business performance.
A
bout AMG
AMG is a value-added distributor of mission-critical fluid power products serving Aerospace, Medical, Automotive, Mining, and Agriculture markets. As one of the Midwest's largest Parker Hannifin stocking distributors, we operate 8 locations across Michigan and Indiana with 240+ employees.
We are backed by Kanbrick, a long-term investment partner, and are growing aggressively — from approximately $125M toward $250M+ through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.
Our finance function is being built for scale. We need someone who can operate in the details today while helping us build what we need for tomorrow. AMG is growing rapidly through organic expansion and acquisitions. We're investing in the financial foundation that will support that growth, from reporting and budgeting to systems, analytics, and AI-enabled processes.
We're looking for someone with the aptitude and ambition to grow into the role, not someone who has already done every part of it. Success will come from curiosity, sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to dive into unfamiliar challenges, not simply from having seen every situation before.
The Role
Over the next several years, you'll help build a finance organization capable of supporting a much larger business.
Initially, your focus will be strengthening the financial foundation, improving reporting, budgeting, systems, and financial processes so leaders have the information they need to make better decisions.
As that foundation matures, your role will naturally expand into broader strategic finance, acquisitions, long-range planning, and executive partnership.
You'll work closely with the President and leadership team while spending time with the people running the business day-to-day. The best ideas won't come from behind a spreadsheet, they'll come from understanding how the business operates.
What You’ll Do
Build a Scalable Finance Function
-
Improve financial reporting and management visibility.
- Strengthen budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes.
- Modernize the chart of accounts and financial reporting structure.
- Improve ERP utilization and financial systems.
- Build scalable finance processes that support continued growth.
Partner with the Business
-
Work alongside operations, sales, engineering, and supply chain leaders to understand how the business works.
- Translate financial information into decisions that improve growth, margins, and cash flow.
- Help leaders understand not just what happened, but why—and what to do next.
Drive Continuous Improvement
-
Identify inefficient processes and redesign them.
- Leverage technology and AI to automate routine work and improve decision-making.
- Challenge existing assumptions and introduce better ways of working.
Support Growth
-
Partner on acquisitions, integrations, and strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate investments and business opportunities.
- Help shape what finance needs to look like as AMG continues to scale.

-
Shared Learning: Access to finance-specific resources, tools, and frameworks from across our companies — what’s working in FP&A, systems implementation, and team-building as businesses scale from $50M to $300M+
-
Direct Kanbrick Access: A genuine relationship with Kanbrick’s team — informal mentorship and real support when navigating the hard problems that come with rapid growth
-
Annual Retreat: A dedicated in-person gathering of executive leaders across all Kanbrick operating companies — time to step back, build cross-functional relationships, and think bigger
Joining a Kanbrick operating company means being part of something larger than one business. The network is part of what makes this a different kind of opportunity.

Who We’re Looking For

You're equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to improve an accounting process as you are discussing strategy with senior leaders. You enjoy building, simplifying, and making things better.
Most importantly, you're excited by the opportunity to grow. We don't expect someone who has already done every aspect of this role. We're looking for someone with the aptitude and ambition to grow into it.
